Receiving Stolen Property

The crime of receiving stolen property occurs when an individual purchases, possesses or receives items, which have been stolen or unlawfully obtained by theft or extortion, and the individual had knowledge that the property was stolen. Knowledge of the theft is not required. California Penal Code 496.
